Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Doula?

A doula by definition is a person who is employed to provide guidance and support to a pregnant person during labor and/or during postpartum. But, a doula can be whatever you want! Do you need full guidance during your pregnancy? Do you just need a shoulder to cry on when you can't get that craving? A doula can provide support during any phase with any situation needing advice or support!

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

I am your voice! During our 32 week birth plan visit, we'll discuss all of your wants and needs for your labor. In turn I will help you and your partner communicate the things listed in your birth plan to your medical staff and make sure everything goes smoothly. I can not override the medical professionals but I can help communicate your needs.

Do you perform any physical examinations?

Doulas do NOT perform any physical examinations nor provide any medical advice. Doulas are there to support you and help you find resources to support you during your journey.

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

I will do everything in my power to incorporate your partner in every step of the birthing and postpartum process as much or as little as you'd like. Partners are important too!

If you still have questions, please contact me and I’ll be happy to answer them!
